Do people still use this forum?

If so, I'm looking for gift ideas for my dad. Obviously want to get him something he'll wow at. He's having an op in Jan and will be house bound for a while. So I was thinking something to keep him sane?

He's quite fussy and a bit contankerous. I was thinking of a DAB radio, but wonder is there something but wonder whether there's something better?

His only hobby is golf, he loves history and in particular local history.

What about paying for access to that genealogy site if he's into history he could do the family tree? Gives you access to the censuses and all that stuff.

Might need a laptop/pad to make the use out of of it though

I got my mother a Nintendo for the brain training and all that stuff and she loved it. You could get him a golf game?

After that if he's still going to be playing golf a Garmin golf watch got one for my own dad, he's like a kid in a sweet shop with it. Loves it uses it all the time and were now getting him another as the strap broke (10 years later) Highly recommended

    Internet radio rather than dab.
You could set up history podcasts too

Thank you so much...great ideas. The access to the genealogy site is a terrific idea, but he uses my brother's log in for that :o He has a laptop so I could take a look at it and see if I could get him a golfing game or something.

He has a golf watch already...he loves it too :D

Thanks for the steer regarding the radio...I thought a dab radio was an internet radio...I will have to look into it. History podcasts sound right up his street.

Membership to the Irish Newspaper Archives could be good too, if he enjoys the genealogy website.

Does he have Sky Sports? We got that for my Dad one year because he loves watching the golf on it.

They have free to air Safelite and saorview and wouldn't be too pushed with sports to be honest

PS not sure which dad you suggested for :) ended up ordering some books yesterday.. one on Michael Collins and one the great war..will top up with few other things

How about some softcore drugs? a) It will definitely wow, b) sanity is overrated.

How about a vintage porn collection subscription... would peak his interest in history and also stop him being cantankerous?
