    Any ideas how to fit latch plasterboard on side where receiver would be fitted Thks

    What's behind plasterboard? Seems like an alcove so could be electrical or plumbing. Your going to have to put reciever in the plasterboard some how which totally depends on the make up behind it and what kinda space you have.

    Just tapping it seems hollow obviously must be a wooden lat there somewhere wouldn’t be strong enough

    Foot latch would be a better choice tbh

    Woodies, no i dont think so. Phone a local locksmith and send them a picture they can recommend a model (probably supply them)

    Aren't you better off with a mortice latch with the striker in the door frame, rather than a surface mount latch?

    Then you have only wood to deal with.
