As title says, am thinking of selling privately, what price should I advertise at, spotless, has chrome exterior pack, 1.5 diesel with 70,000 km, main dealer service record.

Simply check similar vehicles on done deal for prices .. also check main dealer prices and for a similar vehicles don't forget the dealer will be asking 2 to 3 k more than a private sale.. dealer will give warranty. ..have more overheads etc than private seller so don't overprice the car..also for selling ensure its properly valeted. Serviced.good tyres..taxed and nctd. Nct on older cars.. this means anyone buying won't have to spend further on tax ..tyres etc and outline any damage etc.. also use all 10 pics good quality pictures when placing ad on done deal. when you've checked out prices of similar cars.. then set a respectable but realistic price and don't reduce from this price.
Good luck and be prepared for up to 8 weeks on average to sell &beware of scams..
On your initial query as to exact selling price this is best for yourself as owner to settle on as you know exact condition
Of your own car and honestly no 2 second hand cars are exactly the same.. just don't overprice or it won't sell

Just had it serviced and two new tyres, first nct not due till July 2020, have checked done deal, anything from 14,500 to 17,000, I can get a much better deal on new car if I can sell privately, thanks for your help.

Hi just had a look on some deal ..realistically 13 to 13.5k theres one on with an independent dealer in cork for 14900.. unfortunately you can't expect to get similar price as a private seller as I already posted you will need to be a few k below main dealer asking prices.. also remember the selling prices that dealers ask also has an extra fee hundred added of which they can use to reduce down when selling and this makes the unfortunate buyer think there getting a great deal.. check around but by current prices anything over 14max to me seems overpriced ..but check a few dealers and don't overprice..

Check how much it would cost you to import the same car from the UK including VRT and travel expensive. Selling privately is difficult in this price range as your competing with people who are travelling to the UK for a car because they are better value than here. Your asking price needs to be more tempting than going to the UK for one.
