Part-Time Remote Work and Jobseekers

    Hi,

I've just started working from home for a company based in Dublin (I'm in the North West). I'm only doing part-time (20 hours per week over 3 days) due to the unavailability of a reliable internet connection at home. The company would allow me to work at home full-time however if I had a satisfactory work station.

As the job is part-time, I will continue to receive Jobseekers Allowance for the days I don't work. The employer just needs to sign and stamp a document confirming the days you've worked. It's less straight-forward for remote workers, however, as it means posting the form to the company, having them sign and stamp it, and post it back.

Is anyone else in this situation.

Is there a more convenient way of doing it. Surely the welfare system should have provision for this type of thing as working from home is more and more common.

    Thank you.

    R

I don’t see how an employer could sign the forms as you’re not seeking work for two days, you’re at home waiting for the broadband to work. Or am I missing something?

Thank you. I'm not sure if I explained it properly. Basically, I'm on Jobseekers allowance at the moment but have just found part-time work (3 days a week). I will continue to claim Jobseekers for the 4 days I'm not working while I look for a more permanent job.

The difference between my part-time job and other part-time jobs is that mine is a 'work from home' job. I will work 20 hours per week and pay my taxes as normal, I'll just be doing it from home and I will never actually see my employer.

Normally an employer has to sign and stamp a social welfare document (which is returned to the social welfare office every Wednesday). This document confirms the hours worked by the employee and allows the Social Welfare to calculate payments.

My question really is how to have this necessary document signed and stamped by an employer that I will never physically see. You'd think there'd be an online way of doing these things these days.

    Thank you.
