    what sort of a cheap thermostat can i get to trigger heat bulb to come on when temp drops to freezing or below to stop water pump freezing up

    any frost stat would work.
    same as you'd use for an attic.

    Just a cheap frost stat and a 40w bulb.

    Someone recommended a header with frost setting, way ott, 1kw on lowest setting.

    Our pump house is single skin light steel on concrete base, 6*4 so not big. 40w bulb keeps it frost free through harshest frosts amd we’re at 600+ ft altitude. It’s worked to protect from -17c

    If the power goes out and there's no generator, you'll need a backup plan eg a few old duvets / blankets / insulation etc to cover the pump & pipes.

    could you lads explain to me which wires go where on this frost thermostat. im trying to make a lead that plugs into the wall socket and bulb holder with bulb at end as heat source. i have attached a picture of the thermostat and terminals
