Anyone have a suggestion of which tv provider to use for my elderly folks who have TVs in 3 rooms (sitting room, kitchen & bedroom). Basic channels would do but would probably like Sky news, though this wouldn’t be a deal breaker. They currently have the Virgin analogue which feeds 4 rooms but this turns off in a few weeks.

If their needs are basic, then it’s hrd to argue against a saorview/freesat combination. All Irish and U.K. channels and a few extra ones with no monthly bill. You’ll need an aerial and dish and probably boxes depending on the type of tv they have and whether recording is required.

Depending on how old the TVs are, Saorview might be built in if they are 8 years or less old. Then a Saorview aerial would be all that is needed. Only RTE, TG4 and Virgin Media One-Three are available on Saorview

The cheapest pack on Virgin is the Freedom Pack which includes Sky News and all the Irish channels for €20 per month which is cheaper than the analogue pack

Problem with freedom tv is you still need to pay for multiroom boxes and subscription. It’s terrible value for what you get.

Would you have any idea of the cost of getting an aerial and dish supplied and fitted?

For 3 rooms? With boxes (definitely needed for satellite)....

    Post that in bargain alerts
