Ive an old makita screw gun and the batterys dont hold a charge anymore, has anyone got experience with ebay aftermarket battery's.
The original ones are 1.2ah ebays are 3ah, are they safe as in they're not going to blow up when charging.

I had a Li Ion Dewalt fail, replaced with generic China one.

Works as good as the one DW battery I still have,

Charging : any battery, not a good idea to leave overnight etc,
Put the battery part number into Ebay, AliExpress etc

OP you could always rebuild the battery pack. Not done this is years but did used to do it with laptop battery packs. If you can easily open up the old battery pack you can see what size and type of cell it takes and order new cells and replace the old ones. It does need a bit of soldering that can be tricky but is one way. Google should give you plenty of info.

i have old 18v makita drills the drill is about 15 years old so have used ebay batteries for years the 3 ah is ampere hours and is an indication of how long the battery will last between charges. if you have a volt meter and lot of old broken batteries you can cannibalize them to get good cells and remake the batteries. but ebay is handier

I got this a while ago:
    https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MCRWYFT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So far so good for me- going to get a second one. They have a 14.4v equivalent there which I imagine is just as good.
