I was just wondering would anyone know anything about the compulsory gaeltacht placement when completeing a course in secondary school irish teaching. Do you have to go to a certain irish college or can you go to one nearby where you live and commute every day to it? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If I remember right you need 8 weeks Gaeltacht residency to register as a secondary teacher with the Teaching Council. Is that what you have in mind?

If so it's easy enough to get someone to sign off on it, it doesn't seem to be terribly strictly applied. Proper order too as it's just a money-spinner of sorts, another pointless stipulation from the TC.
