Are you allowed to ask for watch values here?

I seen in the trading sticky it says don't be asking for valuations in that thread, but not sure if you're allowed to do it at all or not?

People have before, on vintage pieces anyway. Don't see a big issue with it TBH. If it's your watch.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

It's a Seiko SNZF17K1 I bought from a friend, but I just think it's a little too bulky for my puny wrists, so am thinking of moving it on and maybe looking for a smaller piece.

It's in excellent condition, the original owner hardly wore it. And nor have I. Couple of times.

It is boxed with instructions, but no receipts or any other papers or documents.

    I have some photos here

179 GBP on Amazon UK, maybe 100 EUR?

    I would say about €100

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

€125 free shipping from EU site, so no taxes or anything due

    Linky

Try €95 on adverts.ie provided it is almost as new and see how you get on. I would accept any reasonable offer close enough to that. How much did you pay for it?

Clean the gap between the bezel and hardlex, especially between 11 and 12.

I can see the bracelet is worn/dirty from the links moving around too, clean that up, a tooth brush with a little water will suffice for muck.

Need photos of the bracelet, both the desk diver side and the side that faces you.

Add a photo of the case back.

Sea Urchins are very nice with a decent bracelet, but cheap to buy and not too much resale tbh. Maybe worth buying a NATO strap as the lugs are short to size the watch down to your wrists.

    Thanks for that advice.

Another question, if I think this watch is too big for my skinny wrists, would it be unwise to buy a 38mm Seiko?

Would it be any smaller really?

    38mm is a lot smaller than 42mm

Go try on a 38mm Seiko in a B&M shop and see what you think!

Indeed - size can be deceptive - the surface area size of a 42mm watch is roughly 5,550mm2.

The surface area size of a 38mm watch is roughly 4,550mm2.

You'd be losing more than 18% of the surface area by "just" going down 4mm in size.

I have "puny" wrists - and can wear both 38, 40 and 42mm watches. A lot depends on the design of the lugs and how the bracelet/strap sits on your wrist.

Definitely - some watches with the same width can wear very differently. There are so many more variables.
