new boiler installed and problems from day 1

Well we just got a new boiler installed.

Its in my parents house and when i came home the plumber had been and gone.

It all seemed to be working fine until next morning i went to put it on and it said there was 0.0 bars of pressure. I rang the plumber and he said i need to go into my attic space and open and close a valve on a hose to let pressure build up. This worked but im worried it wont be a once off. He also mentioned he had to close it as there was a leak in the system but he couldnt tell where.

Before i had got through to the plumber i rang bord gais as it was them who sent out an agent who then rang this plumber to install it. They put me through to gas networks ireland who sent someone out to make sure it was not an issue with the gas. Their engineer confirmed it wasn't and that we would need to get the plumber back to reset the pressure to get it down.

It is a glow worm boiler and he had same issue last week with same boiler and the heating thermostat.

A guy knocked to the door a few months ago and we got a new climote smart heating controls installed.

When i click on hot water it comes on on the panel but not on the boiler. However, even if I push the button on the boiler itself and get the symbol of a tap which is for hot water, the cylinder is not heating.

Im worried this plumber is not familiar with the climote controls and adjusting them to work correctly with correct pressue and just going to say its only his job to get boiler installed.

Anybody familiar with this type of issue?

Im not familiar with plumbing and how a boiler/heating system should operate.

Bord Gais misunderstood you as sending in networks was to look for a gas supply issue and not as you had a heating water pressure issue.

It is the responsibility of the installer to test his/her own work and identify to you any problems that may arise following the installation of a new boiler(including any heating control issues already present).

It is not unusual for a heating system to leak and this is often only identified when a boiler is replaced, as long as the leak is not on the boiler the installer is not at fault and should advise you on the next step, if you have a leak and it is not dealt with it will shorten the lifespan of the boiler.

Somebody fitting gas boilers should understand basic heating controls, controls may seem very advanced but in actual fact they are all based on the same regimented wiring design that hasn’t changed since the 60s, I wouldn’t expect the installer to be able to program a controller but i would expect them to be able to fault find.
