Lisbon/Portugal at Easter

Asking for a good friend who is not on Boards.

2 Adults, 2 Kids aged 14 & 11. Looking at going to Lisbon or somewhere close by for a week at Easter (mid-late April). Flying into Lisbon. Would be looking at Airbnb for accommodation. Would be willing to hire a car if necessary.

What would the weather be like then ? Would it be better to stay in Lisbon itself or look for something close by and drive / get public transport in to Lisbon for day-trips ?
Any recommendations on best areas to look for accommodation ?

Also, would it be too cold to swim in sea / pools then ?

    Thanks in advance.

While I can't predict the weather for Easter :) it should be reasonably nice. maybe not swimming in the sea weather but you never know. I would stay out in Cascais/Estoril and use the train to visit Lisbon. it takes about 30 mins and is very cheap. A day or two will let you see all the sights of Lisbon (mind your wallet, especially on the tram up to the castle). It's a beautiful city. Take the ferry across to Almada to see the Cristo Rei statue and take the time to go to the top for a spectacular view over the estuary and city across the bay.

There's a beautiful long golden beach between Estoril and Cascais with a lovely long promenade dotted with restaurants and cafés. Walk out the coast to visit the Boco d'Inferno, the Hell's Mouth, best seen on a rough sea day. The scenery is beautiful on the walk out above the sea.
