    Hi,
I bought a new LG tv but it won't pick up a satellite signal. I tried the existing sky cables and the TV won't show any signal from these,
Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong here I am tuning to astra 28.2 as well.

If it was a Sky Q dish it wont work without changing the LNB.

    Hi gerry,
Thanks It's an old HD box. It's very strange that the TV shows no signal from both cables at sky box.

Still no joy does it matter if my location is set to Ireland not UK?

Only if it's a proper FreeSat set in which case you only get FreeSat functions if set to UK. It should still get FTA regardless of country. Have you tried both cables? Have you tried putting the Sky box back as it should still show the likes of BBC etc?

If you plug the satellite cable in to the old sky HD box and use on the TV does that work?

Is there a Freesat option when tuning in?
Select ALL SETTINGS from the right screen menu
Go to PROGRAMMES Select PROGRAMME TUNING AND SETTINGS
Select AUTO TUNING Tick the SATELLITE box, click Next Select FREESAT
For newly purchased LG TVs you will be prompted to connect both terrestrial and satellite tuners during the set up process. Ensure you select both and connect your TV to the Internet.
The TV will run a scan and give you the option to select Freesat.

    Problem solved.
Dodgy connection on coax cable. Redine connection and this fixed the issue

That was going to be the next suggestion ;) Glad you got sorted.
