Hey im looking to buy either a transit or a transporter. I dont really know a whole lot about vans. But looking on donedeal and there is allot of rubbish out there. Allot of the vans have pretty high mileage. Would 180000miles be very high on a 08 transporter? Im looking to spend in and aroumd the 3 to 4 grand mark.
    Thanks

I'd say rust and bodywork will be the biggest thing you need to look at on vans of that vintage. If an engine has ran to that mileage and runs ok, it'll probably continue to do so once you keep it serviced. They are both prone to rust though, particularly the Ford and there isn't much turning back from rust.

Saying that, the 2.5 engine in some of that era of Transporter isn't fantastic either.

The transporter is a 2.5. Some of them are still going for stupid money tho. What would be the better van. Ya i heard that about the rust on thetransitsd.

I wouldn't judge a van on mileage alone, a lot of them have had a very hard life irrespective of how far they were driven. Look for tell tale signs of abuse and try and get one with a good service history.
