PC failing to boot up

I have an issue with my PC where it doesn't always boot up when switched on. The motherboard lights come on, no fans are running and the PC fails to start up.

The PC didn't have any issues for a couple of years but it began failing to start up every time after a BIOS update a few months ago (possibly coincidental). If I leave the PC off for 12 hours plus, it can start up but it's bit and miss. Once it's running, Windows starts up no problem. If I restart in Windows, the PC only restarts half the time.

I tried the following which didn't make a difference.
    • Unplugging the monitor, video card, SSD, HD, memory.
    • Replaced the MB battery.
    • Fresh application of thermal paste to the CPU.
Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

    Intel Core i5-6600K

    G.Skill Ripjaws 4 Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory

    Thermalright HR-02 Rev.A(BW) 73.6 CFM CPU Cooler

Asus GeForce GTX 970 4 GB STRIX Video Card

Antec TruePower Classic 750 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply

Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Fractal Design Define R5 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case

Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit

Any advice offered to fix this PC would be appreciated.
