Mega Prison

Ok it's clear we need another prison.

    10,000 beds should be enough.

    Why hasn't this been built?

How many more people will be killed or ladies raped by convicted criminals walking free due to the lack of spaces available?

    Enough is enough.

It’s cheaper to build council houses and give them dole than put them up in a prison.

Is there room for a few more thieves and predators in the Dáil ?
2 birds 1 stone and all that

There'd be room for anyone who has broken the law.

It's not a difficult concept to grasp.

    Law is a business

We need them repeating with many appearances

No money to be made from a man sent down for a long stretch

We need him out there offending

Thornton Hall was to have a capacity of in excess of 2200 , where are you planning on building this enormous Jaysus prison ?

Great question, I'm glad you asked.

I'll leave that to the experts. Somewhere prone to flooding ideally.

Erm why build something you'd like to see flooded ?

A giant filing cabinet is all that's needed. Shut them behind a door, shove food in once a day, open door at the end of the (full) sentence.

Won't happen anytime soon. No one in any position of power seems willing to do anything about the state of the judicial system, and seem happy to let things continue as they are. As long as judges and barristers are making a bloody fortune from repeat customers, nothing will change.

I've said it many times here on boards, people need to be asking their representatives who are looking for votes, what are their views in building more prison space.
Peoples lives are at risk and for what? So repeat customers can be represented by the legal people who are laughing all the way to the bank.

I've seen this argument several times.

Are you saying that you believe a judge knowingly suspends the sentence of someone he believes will commit another crime, so that when said person reoffends, a law professional will have another case on their books?

It doesn't really make sense from where I'm standing.

Its almost certainly the capital cost, and running costs. Any announcement of spending would be met with the left moaning about the homeless or other such hot topics.

Just build a mega wall around these shîthole towns with beautiful barbed wire. Keep the scum in.

We need to follow the United States. The. Greatest. Prison. Policy. On. The. Planet. Like ever. It's sheer genius, on so many levels. It is, in its truest sense, an awesome system.

Stranger than fiction. For what is by far the most extraordinary aspect of the modern United States, soak this up:

    United States incarceration rate

147 acres Horse Island off Cork is for sale for $7.5m.

You build a fine prison out there.

Sarcasm aside, which I am a big fan of by the way.

What do you propose? Close all prisons?

And the rep will just lie and pretend they want more prisons too and that he will try to get something done.. and just blame someone else when nothing is done, waste of time. We need to start giving proper sentences for crimes not the laughable ones we currently give and give judges and some solicitors a kick up the h*le before we waste money building prisons
