There's usually a cool off period, also known as probation.

If you go in on day 1 and hand in notice, you should only have to give 1 week.

    Read your contract, thoroughly.

Nothing. They know it's pointless making someone work who will hand in their notice day one.

In this scenario you can withdraw your acceptance, although your image to that company, in that sector won;t look to great.

Went to interview, was offered, accepted, then withdrew because the company they were with offered them....more?

Sounds like you may need to write something heartfelt and sincere to not be considered as something else.

    Just sayin.

    Exactly.
Op, people start jobs and leave them very shortly after all the time.

Why would you go in at all? You tell them that you have changed your mind and will not be taking up employment with the company. End of story.
