Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of 'stable' Saudi Arabia has announced that Saudi Arabia wants to go nuclear.
They want to develop up to 17 reactors.

The crown Prince has stated that the country doesn't want to develop nuclear weapons but said that they would want to develop nuclear weapons if Iran gets them.

So, oil rich Iran wanted to develop nuclear power, now oil rich Saudi Arabia wants to develop nuclear power.

    Be afraid, be very afraid.

In economic terms it would probably make sense for them* to invest in nuclear energy now.

They are cash rich, and if they use less of their own oil resources, they will have more of it to sell. They’d also be future proofing themselves for when the oil reserves dwindle** and prices sky rocket.

**I’m aware this is most likely a long time away.

*I am not a fan of Saudi Arabia.

I wouldn't worry - if in the unlikely event that they did fire a nuke at the west the retaliatory strike would be so severe that their entire country would be turned into a giant desert.

If there was ever a place to justify nuking it would be Riyadh, Medina and Mecca. Flatten the place and they are so remote that the nuclear fallout will be minimal.

There is no justification for wiping out 10 million people just because you disagree with the policies of their government.

Weren't you the same guy who the other day wanted to destroy communism because it has resulted in so many 'deaths' yet are calling for the annihilation of the biggest country in the Middle East.

In fairness, I don't think policymakers are going to be checking out his wacky posts to help them form their military strategy.:D

From what I remember they have an agreement with the Pakistanis, that they could get nukes on fairly short notices.

As long as the Republicans and friends are making money with them, there'll be no "concern" from the U.S..

They have access to nuclear weapons due to funding the Pakistani nuclear program.

Leo telling us the nuclear fallout is worse elsewhere and Noonan doing side deals with Kuwait.

At least they have the guts to stand up and defend themselves. Not like us depending on our "gallant allies " in Europe.
