General Ideas for Part time work

    Hi
    I am a man in my late 50sI at present I am working in Healthcare part time , which most weeks means almost fulltime .
    However come next April a part of the job I do will cease and I will be relying on the phone to ring to let me know where my next days work is , this can happen at short notice and unfortunately if I don't/cant do it goes to someone else as its mostly relief work.
    I like what I do but a cut in hours will make it non viable from a finance perspective , I like the company I work for so don't rely want to leave and look elsewhere if it can be helped.
    If I had something small and flexible that I could do to fill in the hours I am not waiting for the phone call?
    Just looking for some ideas .
