    Hi there,

    Question.

If you are an AP on point 3 and 71k and you take a position from an open AP competition (in the same organisation) does the person retain their pay scale or do they need to mark time?

When will they be eligible for next increment?

    Did you ask Personnel?!

This is the kind of question where you'll want your answer in writing from personnel/PeoplePoint...

Here's what I got in writing from PeoplePoint, via my department's HR area...:

"I can confirm that 'marking time' is only applicable in open competition promotion cases whereby an officer's grade code and pay scale have changed. As you are transferring internally and will be remaining on your current grade, you will not be required to mark time. Your pay will continue to progress in annual increments as before."

So many questions. Why would you want to do this ? Or more pertinently, why would your Department/Office do this ? How do you know PAS will assign you to your own Department/Office from the Open panel?

I presume it's Revenue. They have their own Open competitions for AO/AP/PO, and a good few serving AP's have had to enter competitions to get onto panels to get themselves to their desired location quicker than waiting on a transfer.

Could be Dept of Housing in Wexford either, they have their own Open AP competition just for AP in Wexford.

Could be yeah. But look at the OP's name and posting history... ;)
