Picked up this vintage watch over the weekend, the movement isn't working so it'll need a service.

I couldn't find any details online for the 'byron' name it has on the dial, but is stamped as swiss made and looks like be early 1930's ish, bought it mainly becuase the back opens up straight into the movement.

The back is marked as 'rolled gold 10 year guarantee'

also has some hand engravings of:

    199k
    1057X
    1756F
    367H
    3197J

Can't post link or images as a new user and not sure how long it'll be until I can. Happy to PM images to anyone who might be able to help.

I've found 'rolled gold 10 year guarantee' is usually found on US market watches. Never heard of the brand, but at one time there were hundreds of small Swiss companies making watches, or large companies with lots of sub brands. If you want to PM me the links to pics I can post them for you.

I'd reckon 20's or 30's alright. Movement looks in good order. 15 jewel count is good too. The jewels being set in their own mounts(chatons) a sign of quality above the average.

Thanks Wibbs, It also has some hand engravings of 1/39 & 7/44 & 5/46 which i'd presume are service dates or something.

Any suggestions on somewhere that I could send it for a valuation? I may not bother with a service as I presume it's pretty much original and if I can keep it that way i happily will.
