Chromecast - what can it cast?

    Hi,
I would appreciate help using Chromecast to cast onto a TV from my phone (Huawei Y6 2018).

I can get ‘All 4’ and ‘CNN’. I use Virgin Media Full House, 100, 240 Mb on my TV. What other apps should cast onto the TV? I can get Netflix from my TV (channel 300 and 999). So far I cannot get Youtube.

    Is Chromecast really worthwhile?

YouTube should cast first time. I use Videostream player within Chrome on the laptop to play videos.

VLC and Soda player also have cast features iirc, although there are privacy issues with Soda apparently.

Spotify casts, so does the BBC player if you can vpn I think.

    What's the CNN thing?

Open the play store and search for Chromecast will give you a decent list.

I think VLC can cast but think it is not officially supported, so might be missing from offical lists and might not have a simple "cast" button.

Cannot fault Chromecast. It was the best £20 I ever spent.

Nor can I but I eventually replaced a Chromecast with an official Android TV box which has Google Cast built in (and also Google Assistant)

Can't you use google Home to to cast your phone? So could use that for anything that doesn't have casting capabilities like rte player. Though could you bear to not use your phone while watching something? :)

Was something I was meaning to buy for yonks before finally getting one in July, have 3 of them now :o So unbelievably handy, probably wouldn't be subbed to Netflix without it

That's mirroring not casting. With casting a direct stream from the media source is created to the cast device without passing through the device. If you cast a YouTube video from your phone to a Chromecast once it starts you can turn your phone off it will keep playing
