I'm going to view 2 John Deere s this week. A 6330 standard and a 6230 premium. The sales man told me over the phone that the 6230 premium would be more powerful than the 6330 standard. Due to the fact that it's a premium. Can anyone tell me if this is true or just sales man talk?

From what I’ve seen se John Deere’s are better to pull as less gears, know a lad that had a 6230 premium and a 6310 se and the 6310 would pull it apart

I have a 6310 premium and it's a great tractor to pull. Sales man told me over the phone that his 6230 premium would pull my 6310 premium around the yard. May be a sales pitch

It's not more powerful, unless it's been re-mapped or chipped. However, it may feel more responsive, as the premium has a slightly different engine...4 valves, as opposed to two in the standard is one such difference... But, at the end of the day, it's salesman talk...Buy the one that feels right for you, or at least challenge him to put them both on a dyno, and get the answer in writing....

Same power unless the premium is chipped. The premium will have an air seat, more lights and electrical components. Might have front and cab suspension. If you want a standard run of the mill tractor just stick with the SE

Just to add to my reply above.... The standard tractors also handled the emissions regulations differently to the premium. They were fitted with a basic EGR valve, which basically directed exhaust gasses back into the engine. This smothered the engine, and left them feeling underpowered, which again may be the reason the sales man claims the premium is more powerful. These EGR valves can be bypassed, and the engine remapped to run without it. This should enable the engine to perform as expected. If you're buying from a JD dealer, be sure to discuss this with him. They should have plenty experience of it at this stage....
