Buying in UK/NI - now or wait until new year?

Does anyone with experience of importing from UK or NI have any advice on whether to buy now or wait until the new year?

Will the benefit of the same year car being a "year older" and there being more trade ins against new January sales available be outweighed by more people looking for second hand cars in January?

The UK change their registration plates twice a year like here but its March and September. They don't follow our calendar year system so there is no surge in sales or trade-ins in January there. Ideally if you wait until March then the car will be deemed a year older in the UK and prices fall to reflect that.

Thanks for that, very helpful. Makes the decision to just go ahead whenever a suitable car appears a bit easier
