Horizon Box - Version 1 versus 2?

    Hi,

    I am looking to connect my Virgin horizon box to a slingbox.


    I have horizon version 2 I believe, that has no scart connector.

    I was informed by tech support that I could swap the box for a "Version 1" box that has a scart output.

    Are there any reasons not to go for this version 1 of the box? Any features that are only on version 2? More buggy, etc? Has anyone any experience with a horizon box connected to a slingbox?

    Why not use Virgin TV anywhere app instead of the Slingbox?

    Hey, yeah I find the tv anywhere app very good for the most part, but I have noticed that some channels (i.e RTE) give an error when trying to cast them from the mobile apps. ("Channel doesn't support chrome cast..." or something)

    Also you find that some shows (i.e. football) are not broadcast online through the app and some copyright message is shown.

    if you are using an external modem then you should see no difference between the V1 and V2

    The main difference is in the wifi as the V2 supports 5ghz ac where the V1 doesn't have ac support. if youre using a VM hub or similar then this wont be a consideration for you.

    The V1 is slightly bigger than the V2, dunno if thats a consideration for you, It may if you have the box on a shelf.

    performance wise they're roughly equal.
