Recently purchased a new house and it has an oil burner along with a Firebird 16" inset boiler stove. Now the stove will heat the water and rads once a bit of coal is kept to it now and again but doesn't seem to be throwing much heat out of the appliance in the room the stove is in itself. I thought stove threw out good heat and I understand the rads be takin most of it but still thought it would throw out more heat than it is. I'm new to stoves so may be it's jus me as I'm use to open fire and oil

According to their brochure it will output 7.3 Kw to water and 2.5 Kw to room burning wood and 8.3/3.6 burning anthracite (test conditions) so if you if you only have it ticking over it may only throw out ~ 1 Kw to the room which, depending on the room size/insulation may be inadequate.
A few of my neighbours have non boiler insert stoves while others have free standing non boiler stoves and the inserts never seem to give the same output as the free standing ones even with the same rating.
