Anyone with experience of working with AIB on their 23 month contract? Do these usually get extended or turn permanent?

When you hit 24 months you automatically get the same rights as a full time member of staff so they are probably just trying to protect themselves to give them the option to let you go.

I left there a few months ago myself before mine was up, a good few were finding their contracts left to run out and not being made permanent. A few years ago you were almost guaranteed but they seem to be looking to keep churning the staff to save on pay rises and saves them being locked into permanent contracts if business needs change.

Do you get benefits like pension etc on these contracts?

There's a pension there, I never paid into it personally. If you're going to branch banking you'll find that once you have your exams done that there's no salary increase while across in BOI you'd be earning at least 4-5k more which made me move. The pressure in AIB was through the roof too.
