    Hi,
I have having an issue with my oik burner.

The oil will not always fire up for me, but once hit of the reset button and it is fine and will run for the 1 or 2 hours that it is set to run for.

I changing the fuel pump about 3 months ago as it was ceased and it ran fine since then. When changing the pump I also changed the nozzle.

I have a spare photocell and I put that in but its made no difference.

Any ideas folks? thanks in advance.

Riello pumps dont really seize unless there is fuel contamination, mainly water. Was the tank and filter checked for water or contamination before the new pump was fitted.Have you checked the filter in the new pump.it should be spotless

The fella in my pumping supply store said the same thing. I let out some fuel from the line before attaching the new pump in case there was water in it.

I havent checked the fuel filter yet. But would a pump cease that quickly (installed in August of this year)? Also once the reset button is pressed it runs with no issue - whereas with ceased pump in August, it would only occassionally fire up and then only for a few seconds.

    Thanks

When a new pump is fitted,The fuel has to be checked.its not enough to run off some oil and check oil.
The outlet of the tank is raised from the bottom of the tank.the water could be up to the level of the outlet and mixing slightly with the oil. water will seize or contaminate the pump pretty much straight away.it may not be your problem but the oil tank filter and the riello pump filter will give feedback. The new pump filter and housing should be spotless
ps-it may not be a fuel issue, but its the first thing to check

Cheers I'll give that a go.

When you say sportless - no dirt or would/could there be signs of water.

I put the issue in August down to condensation because of the hot summer forming water inside the tank.

You can get condensation in all tanks. Water goes to the bottom. The tank outlet is up 1" to 1 and a half inches.,for water to come in the oil line there would have to be up to 50litres of water in tank. The depth of water can be checked with water seeking paste.if the last pump seized due the water contamination, then may have the same issue
Run off a few litres of oil in to a clear glass jar and leave settle for a couple of mins,Do a visual check on the oil
