Hive installation fee

I got hive installed in my home. Brilliant product. I paid upfront for everything including installation of two hive thermostat heating controls, as my my has two zones. All good and installation went fine. No issues with that or the control units themselves.
My query is regarding the fee for installation. I paid upfront for this online but today I received a bill from bord gais for the installation of the second heating zone. Is this right? Is there a fee for installation per heating zone or does the installation fee cover the entire home... ie both control units? Don't want to pay another €119

There is a flat fee for single or dual hive €299(ie. single heating zone, or single heat + hot water)
For any additional heating zone its another €119, as this requires an extra receiver and extra thermostat (and extra time to install)

    Hi,
I have a question about Hive. The installer called out and said my timer wasn’t suitable for a thermostat upstairs and downstairs. He said I would need a 3 zone thermostat and a another valve for hot water.
I have a combi boiler that automatically heats the water even when the heating is off, so I don’t really understand why I need another valve for hot water. Can you explain it?

    Thanks,

    Derek.

I think I have the same setup as you, Derek.
All you should need is a hive multi zone for boiler and downstairs and just one more multi zone thermostat for upstairs. The two hive control panel units can go side by side next to the boiler... that's how mine is anyway. One hive heating control panel downstairs and one upstairs.
Be advised, as this caught me out, you will be charged for two installation fees.... the boiler/heating downstairs unit AND control panel upstairs.
Hope this helps... hive is brilliant once up and running. The app is super too

Hi Dereksos, If you have a combi, and 2 zones on your heating timer (with independent control) then you would need a Hive multi-zone, this would be 2 x single channel receivers and 2 hive thermostats.

So as regards cost, would be same as a multi zones as the extra receiver and stat required.

    Hi DGOBS,

Thanks for the information, my main concern is if I change over to hive will my combi boiler still automatically heat my water? The Bord Gáis plumber told me that I need another valve for hot water and I don’t know why? I want my water setup to remain as it is?
Apologies for the trouble, I know nothing about this sort of thing.
And thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Best wishes,

    Derek.

Your water will be totally unaffected by this.

For a combi boiler, the 'switch' is a flow switch in the boiler itself, so when you open a tap, the switch sees a water flow and fires up to heat the water.
