    Hi all,

Currently wiring spot lights on 4x4 with toggle switch in dash. Am I right in thinking that this switch should be wired to the switched cable from relay i.e. 86 which will be connected to vehicles headlight main beam

    Thanks M.

You presumably want the switch to turn off the spots even though the Main beams are on ?
You're correct, 86 is the Switch feed for the relay.

Thanks mgbgt1978 for your prompt reply. Yes I want to be able to turn off spots when main beam still on the only other option is to pull the fuse - it's just I wasn't sure should I wire this toggle switch to 86 lead - (the switch feed)or to the main power supply from battery.

No problem. The switch is only to let current power the relay. The main feed to the spots is a fused 12v battery wire to 30 and comes back out through 87 to the spots. This needs a fuse to suit the wattage of the spots.
The normal toggle switch would probably burn up if used to carry the current needed for the spots
