heating works but no hot water

    Hi all,

Last Saturday I was doing some plumbing (very simple job) and I had to close both cold and warm water and drain the pipes. After I finish I open all valves the way I thought they were before but since then there is no hot water when heating is on.

From what I can see water cylinder has two pipes coming from the site and one from the top.

Bottom pipe on the site has a valve then the pipes splits to two and the bit that goes up has another valve.

I have tried different variations over last two days but I cannot get it working.

Could you share any ideas how to resolve this?

    thanks,

extending two pipes cold & hot water for kitchen appliances. cold water is from the mains so no issue there

So you didnt drain down the heating system..,Are either of the two pipes on the side of the cylinder getting hot when heating is on

just the bottom one gets and only before the valve - is cold after - at the tank does not matter which way I turn the valve

have you a small tank in the attic or is it a pressurized system

Are you sure the valve is actually opening ? Could be just turning on the spindle from the sound of that.

So you have a big and small tank, yes. From the small tank pipe ,there is a pipe on the bottom of this tank probably going to the hot press.ensure the valve on this pipe is fully open.
Turn off all the rads and see what you get on the two heating pipes on side of cylinder with heating on

it is a strange valve because it looks like it opens opposite direction, when I turn left screws in, when right screws out. but it seems like there is an arrow and "Hot " indicating turning in (right - screw out)

seem like a valve issue.is it a gate type valve or lever type valve
