    Hi Folks,

    Brief history,

    . Full licence.

    . 43 years old.

    . Driving since 1995.

. Various policies in my own name.

. Last concurrent policy ended in 2014 with 3 years no-claims.

[time lapse renders the no-claims essentially irrelevant]

. Never made any claims or had a claim against me.

. Never in any accidents or convictions. No penalty points.

    Problem,

Need to drive again for work.

I am having difficulty getting any sane quote, online insurance company algorithms are treating me like a learner driver,
most appear to look for only named driver exp once you tick '0' on the no-claims radio button.

When I do call, the sales person insists on running all my personal details through their system before presenting me with a unattainable quote, or no quote at all.

I rather not spend half an hour giving all my personal detalis to 50+ databases, I just want to provide my age, licence type, car type
and make my individual circumstance clearer for a quick yes or no.

Financially my budget would be for a '08 reg to address the 10 year excess with older cars, preferring a decent 1.9 diesel of some sort.
A small 1ltr car or dangerous banger is not really an option as I will be on the motorway frequently.

Has anyone any pointers or links to a good independent broker / company.

    Thank You.

    J

    Try Munster Group 0656841766

    Or O Malley Griffin 061314025

    They’re both brokers.

    Hi J,

Just curious as to how you got on with this.

In a similar situation where we need to go back to a 2 car household.

    Scenario:
    37 years old
    Full licence 10+ years
Own policy until 2012 then named driver on my wifes policy thereafter
No claims, no penalty point for either of us

    Looking at a 08 1.9tdi golf

Best I seen was KennCo quote of circa 1000 on chill.ie

    Any joy with the brokers?

Have exact the same problem 57 years old , driving from the age of 19
Never had fines penaltypoints or any convictions
Was for 7 years unemployed and could not afford a car for the last 5 years
Now I can get a job again but need a car for it
No no claim bonus , costs 2200 Euro a year ,500 euro deposit and 280 euro a month
if wont find something cheap I will be unemployed next month again
