Pregnant in work issues

My Other Half is 6 months pregnant.
She works in a nursing home and as a result, parts of the usual day to day is heavy work. This work has become heavier as the weeks of her pregnancy have gone on!
Her midwife advised her to have a chat with HR to see how they can accommodate her over the next few months. Midwife suggested she request that she does not undertake any full day shifts(12 hours) and sticks to 6 hour shifts until she begins her Maternity leave.

OH had the chat today with HR(who happens to be her manager/head nurse) who said 'You know a lot of girls have been pregnant working here and they just” went on with it “' and that she cannot accommodate her for the next few weeks as her rota has already been written up.
No promises about future rotas and no suggestions to ensure she doesn't have to do certain heavy tasks.
The only bit of advice was offered was swapping shifts with other people.
The lack of empathy shown is infuriating, but not particularly surprising given how the Head Nurse goes about her business in general.

Maternity leave is due to be taken in December so not too long to go but I'm wondering what her options are regarding Health & Safety leave, outlined here -https://www.workplacerelations.ie/en/Publications_Forms/Guide_to_Maternity_Protection_Acts.pdf

We feel it might be the best course of action to take this and let it carry on through to Maternity leave.

Does anyone with similar experience believe she would qualify for this and if so, does the employer have to pay her? She is on a zero hour contract(they don't offer any staff contracts!).
How do we go about applying for this leave? Not clearly outlined in the document.

Appreciate any advice, we are both fairly overwhelmed right now so external advice would be great.
