Map of Water Meters with Meter Numbers

    Background:

I work with a  Group Water Scheme. The scheme is governed by a Board of Directors. The members of the scheme are Shareholders. We are in the process of getting a connection from a mains water mains network that will improve our current (weak) supply. One of the conditions of this new connection will be eliminate all leaks from our pipe network.

    Current problem:

With that in mind one of my tasks is to try an identify the location of all meter boxes and connections to ensure there are no leaks on the pipe network. I have a map showing some of the connection but not all of them.

By coincidence I got a query from a few days ago from a shareholder. He is receiving a bill from IW and is unable to locate the meter to which the bill is attached. I rang IW in his presence to try to resolve the issue. Talked for an hour to a very nice employee of IW but she was unable to get an exact Grid Reference of the meter. This meter was last read in 2016. The bill is for commercial purposes only. The bill comes with an estimated usage and standing charge for the meter. The employee said that information migrated from the local authority/Celtic Anglian to IW so that they could take control of the national water networks.

I rang the local authority but they were unable to help. There are no local numbers available to contact Celtic Anglian to see if they had such a map.

    Question:

Does a map exist that would show:

The location of a meter with the corresponding meter number.
The Grid Reference (10 or even 12 figure) of the meter box. (sometime meters are buried and cannot be found easily)

    I'm sure one exists somewhere!

If yes how could I get a copy of it?

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated to help me resolve this issue

    Hi S080659M,

Thank you for contacting us concerning this matter.

You can request a copy of a map showing the required information from the Planning Department in your Local Authority.

As regards the shareholder who is having issues locating his meter, we would advise that he contacts our Non-Domestic Billing Department on 1850 778 778, which is open from 9am-5:30pm Monday to Friday. A member of our team will be able to help him.

    Kind regards,
    Niamh
