Tablet for drawing and animation

Hi All, Posted this in the tablet section but might get more responses here.My 12 year old wants a tablet to draw on and do animation for Christmas Any ideas? I would prefer to get an android/Apple tablet rather then a dedicated drawing tablet. is there much difference? Thanks
