I started a new job in August. Just wondering is it too soon to take annual leave?

Depends a great deal on whether it's public or private, how long you're planning to take off, and how your company handles annual leave rollover.

A few days, I wouldn't think is a problem. A few weeks would be unusual.

Annual leave can be requested for whenever you want but it is at the discretion of your manager to grant it or not.

If you're thinking about how it might be perceived then consider the duration and the impact it may have on your colleagues while you are out.

Don't go highlighting 'it'll have no impact on the business' or anything like that as if that is the case then they may wonder why they need you and you are likely still on probation.

If you started mid August you'll have built up about 4 days of leave to date assuming standard leave.

In 2 weeks you'll have 5 days or a working week.

But you're also probably still on probation, so maybe ask advice from someone in your workplace

I started a job in August and I requested the annual leave I had booked in July - before I'd even started the new job.
