Is it possible to make any android device cast enabled so other devices can cast to it?

    Possible with apps, e.g.

    Inkwire Screen Share + Assist

    There maybe other apps.

If you want to share media files another option is

BubbleUPnP for DLNA / Chromecast / Smart TV

Just run the app on both devices and you can control the media from the other or browse the media on the other device.

thank you. Not quite what I need. Really looking for a 'Cast Receiver' so I can click the cast icon on my phone and display on TV via an android box. I may just buy a chromecast but trying to avoid needing a another device on TV as I am out of HDMI ports.

Android TV devices like the Shield and MiBox have Google cast built in

Don't know what box, you have but as said above with Android TV, the chromecast feature should be builtin. Also check your TV, if it is smart, it may also support miracast.

Edit: Another option is to use the Allcast app and companion receiver app.

The only other option was a subscription based app, that would cost more than getting a chromecast.
