    Hi,
My folks have decided to get a security alarm and cctv for their house. They have never had one before so just wanted to ask if there is anything in particular they should be looking for once they get it installed rather than having to pay for add ons later ?

They have asked for 3 cameras one in the front, one at the side and one at back of the house.
A monitor to view the CCTV
An app that can be installed on their phone to view the house.
Anything thing else they should consider getting for a basic install of an alarm and cctv install ?
Should these security companies have some sort of certs for installs ?
Any help or recommendations much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi

All that is fairly standard features these days.
Shop around and get a few quotes & ask for them to call out & survey the property first. This will prevent any nasty/expensive surprises later on.
The installer must be PSA licenced. You can check the register here
    https://www.psa.gov.ie/en/PSA/webContract?OpenForm

Also get details for monitoring/self monitoring charges & if there are any long term contracts you will be tied into.
Generally on the cheaper offers you will be tied into maintenance & monitoring options for a number of years or the equipment will be tied to that installer for parts etc down the road. So the cheapest is actually the dearest in the long run.
