ROS or MyAccount?

    Hi all.

Very grateful for some advice. I am a PAYE taxpayer, with additional income from a rental property. For the past few years I have submitted a Form 12 in hardcopy to Revenue. Revenue wrote to me late last year to say I would henceforth have to make an electronic return via ROS.

However, it is not clear from the Revenue website whether I should create a ROS account (which seems to apply only to those with a tax number 'registered for a business tax'), or a 'MyAccount'.

Also, should I fill in a Form 11 or Form 12? They seem very similar.

    Many thanks in advance.

You use MyAccount first to set up your ROS online account. You complete a Form 11, if the taxable income from rent is greater than €5k.

I don't agree with this, IIRC, a Ros acc can be set up without having a my account.

In any event the OP needs to get the finger out if he is to make the filing deadline.
Opening a ROS account takes time as it is a 3 stage process, mine took 4 weeks recently
