    Hi

I am wondering if any companies out there offer broadband (fftc, ftth, etc) and allow you to use a certain amount of your data outside the home through your mobile devices.

With young kids when you are away from the house it would be very handy to have such a service. I am thinking vodafone, virgin and eir would be able to offer such a service as they have fixed and mobile products.

At the moment I use a dongle for ourselves when away from the house, on holidays, visting relatives etc as the data on your phone's plan wouldn't be sufficient.

It would certainly be a handy way for companies to tie you into a mobile & broadband plan if they threw a free dongle into the mix and allowed you to stream away.

    Thanks

How much data does everyone use a month outside the home? What mobile plan are they on? Do they need much minutes/texts on their mobiles?

    It is for data only.
If you are streaming content your phone's data plan is limited.

No, no quad play plan pools data. Virgin have 2500Mb per 10-20 homes. Three's mobile network(Virgin Mobile) has 150Mb per 100-500 homes. A mobile bit is far more valuable than a fixed line one.

Buy a mifi device. Get a 20e three sim. Unlimited data. Boom.

The 3 network is probably the worst out there with so many networks piggbacking on it.

I already have a dongle with eir. Pre pay is €20 p/m for 15gb or bill pay gives 25gb for the same price. I might stick with pre pay for the moment as the dongle is only for occasional use, although the bill pay is only a 6 month contract.
