I’ve always found it strange they don’t. I’m fairly certain they do in the run up to Christmas, but surely it could & should become the standard? There’s even some money to be made from it, charge a tad extra maybe for Saturday delivery. I’ve found myself in situations where I’m needing a parcel ASAP but I’m screwed if I order Friday. Or I order Thursday and it doesn’t get delivered Friday.

They would want to improve the Mon-Fri offering first...

They do deliver parcels on Saturday, started last year.

Must only be in Dublin? I’ve never seen or heard from them of a Saturday.

I got a parcel delivered by them from Amazon on a Saturday a few weeks back, I'm not in Dublin.

In urban areas they do. Xmas time the 2 Saturdays beforehand are nationwide deliveries.

Was the norm up to the 1990s I think, certainly in County Dublin.

What they should do is pick up your outgoing post when delivering your other letters

That's alot of extra cost, training , management etc.. given the only people wanting (not needing) this service are consumers i.e. the market segment willing to pay the least

And then we'll have another taxpayer's money wasted thread.

    Address pal to your door?

I have to go the office to collect

Address Pal has a home delivery option for UK items. The fee is taken from your credit card. For USA items home delivery is the only service available.

Hey Jimmy no-mates. The reason you're not getting any post is not because of non-delivery Saturdays

Growing up in the '60s there were two letter deliveries a day Monday/Friday and one on a Saturday but with the collapse in personal letter writing, we aren't going back to those sort of frequencies - ever. As it is, it's only a couple of years since the idea of reducing deliveries to two/three times a week was being floated. Some people have short memories.

Historically, the telephone put an end to several deliveries a day, now, email will reduce the number of deliveries to two or three times a week.
These days it's really only delivery of parcels that keep an post alive and that is quite a competitive market.

Genuinely can’t remember the last time I got a bill in the post.

Don't see the need really. Is it really that important that you get your consignment of sex toys on a Saturday?

Give me my local fear an phoist for An Post on its worst day over the arrant incompetents who run and work for the ineffably abysmal Fastway Couriers. The. Worst. Company. In. Irish. History. Do a Google review on them and you'll be gobsmacked at how awful they are.

Back in the day you could post a letter in the morning, and get a reply the same day. But then we had a rebellion.
