Lager and Guinness that has gone out of date.

My mother asked me to throw away some old cans she had cruelly kept hidden in the bottom of a wardrobe for the last year and a half, left over from some party or something.

Cans of Carlsberg, Heineken, and Guinness. Dates on the bottom of the cans are June 2017 for the Heineken, and September 2017 for the rest.

Are any/all of these still drinkable? Or will they likely have gone stale or flat, or just gone rancid?

Obviously I could just open one and drink it and I would find out either way. But I suppose my main concern is that they taste ok but cause me to get sick later.

The internet tells me they might not be in peak condition any more but should still be drinkable, but thought I would check here too.

I knew one night club worker in Cork years ago and he said they regularly bought all the out of date beer bottles at dirt cheap prices to sell as nobody checked the dates in a darkened club.
Never heard of anyone being any the worse for it.

I have two bottles of Guinness the went out of date sometime in the 80's and I plan on opening one of them when one of my mates is around in the house for a few drinks.

What did your mate do that you have been planning your revenge from the long grass!

You must be very lonely if you have waited 40 years and still haven't had a mate call over...

Cans in particular don't go as weird tasting as quick as bottles would; you might not notice much difference really. Although the bottle issue is light and there isn't any in a wardrobe normally!
