I was looking at buying a case cs150, I don’t know a lot about them, tractor will be used for mostly low loader and dump trailer work, are there any faults on these, it’s 2002 with 9000hrs , any advice would be appreciated.

Generally pretty bulletproof but can have a few niggles if neglected.
Transmission master clutch can be an issue and prone to burning out if abused, general signs would be hard to get into gear or clutch drag whilst pedal depressed, transmission would have to be split to repair, most I have seen around 8000hour mark. Powershift clutches can be a problem also and some may need to be rebuilt, but you would have issues with slippage etc., as a tell tale of a problem. Sometimes gaskets can blow on the control valve on the RHS of the transmission but they’re not hard to replace.

Can suffer electrical issues also, generally down to chafed wires etc. Like all the St. Valentin Steyr based tractors, the A12 central print under the dashboard can suffer from broken solder joints causing all sorts of issues from non working headlights to front suspension problems.

If it has front suspension, check it works and check front tyres for signs of wear on outside or inside that could indicate worn bushes, there’s plenty of grease points on these Carraro IFS axles and they’re not shy about taking grease. Non operation can be down to loss of power to the controller, dead accumulators, bad potentiometers or in worst case broken torsion bars. Relatively easy to repair but costly in parts.

After that there not a whole lot to look out for, engines are pretty good, can have head gasket issues, check all remote valves work correctly and the PTO also.

Genuine parts are expensive for the, from Case IH but can get some engine parts cheaper from Massey (Sisu engine) and Deutz dealers for the transmission (ZF T7200L).

They were ahead of their time with the comfort and tech they had back then.
