I get the free eir sports channels as part of my broadband. I currently have aSky HD box without a sub to add these free channels to.

Does anyone know if there is a way of getting a 4k sky box to do the same thing to avail of the 4k by/eir content without having to pay sky for a sub?

AFAIK Sky Q only works with a sub, if you unsubscribe you have to give the box back.

Do you mean the 4K BT content? If so it's not available on satellite, I believe it is only available to BT internet subscribers in the UK over IPTV. eir have no 4K content themselves.

Cheers for that, did sky do a 4K box at all before introducing Sky Q?

Ah, I didn't think that it wouldn't be available on the Sky platform. Makes sense to keep it for their BT subscribers, like Sky would keep their UHD channels on their own platform.

BT Sport 4K is also available on Virgin Media in the UK.

Freesat will have a new 4k box out soon that will have encryption. The 'hope' is that services like BT Sports, eir sports and others might be enticed onto the platform instead of Sky who are losing subscribers.

Yeah it's very annoying that we can't get 4k bt.. their hd picture is better than skys so the 4k must be great

BT HD is NEVER better than skys and now they even run the ads in sd when on a HD channel.

    BT sports are struggling.
