Fridge/freezer repair issues

Hi! I'll try to be brief; in trying to fix my fridge. Yesterday, the fridge stopped working, freezer was working fine. Fan was working in the freezer, the drain wasn't frozen. Eventually, I saw that there was some ice in the freezer by the port which goes up to the fridge. Aha. I used a hairdryer to blow hot air down from the fridge to clear the apparent blockage. I thought it was sorted.

Threw the cover back over the evaporator coil, reconnected the fan. When I plugged in the until again, nothing happened. The fridge light turns on, but neither the compressor nor the fan are on. I can hear a veeeery faint drip/gurgle when I power on the fridge if that helps. Also, I got a static shock when I touched the plug pins after disconnecting them.

Any ideas? I'm thinking some water got on a connection in the back of the freezer and is shorting it.

Any help is much appreciated. Picture of evaporator coil and connections attached.

Here is image of the evaporator coil and connections without the cover + fan (as you can see there is a free connection for the fan). The bottom left is where the port was frozen (the blackish area) which I defrosted.

if you expected it to start and it didn't when plugged in it may be just in defrost mode, plug it back in again and leave it for a while otherwise see if it has a glass type fuse in the pcb, check if it has blown
