    Hi,

I have some colleagues due to fly out of Brussels this afternoon, but there's a 24 hour baggage handlers strike just called (affecting EI and lots of others).

What are the options for my 3 colleagues?

Can they hop on a Eurostar to London and fly from there? (Well, obviously they can, but will standard travel insurance cover that?)

Or are they obliged to find the cheapest alternative?

I’d be getting the train from Brussels to Paris then by air back from Charles de Gaulle. Much quicker alternative than through London. Google Maps is your friend here punch in from Brussels Airport to CDG and you’ll get lots of train options less than 3hrs. EI can transfer you to a return from CDG, not sure about reimbursement for your own transport to/from Paris but I’m sure they could clarify If you could contact them.

    Amsterdam or Dusseldorf good options.

There are worse places to be stranded than BRU. Direct train services to AMS and CDG where you could easily be accommodated on another flight.
AMS would be my first choice due to the number of connections, I've done that journey in the past and it took about an hour and a half...

Paris CDG is also an option, TGV ride is quick and direct to the TGV station at the airport

Amsterdam is a good option, trains though can be a bit weird but a direct train to the airport might work

Dusseldorf, either ICE or Thalys, great airport but you will have to change for the S11 and not the S1 or RE at Dusseldorf Hbf, S11 drops you basically under where the Aer Lingus check in is.

You could also get a bus to Charleroi if Ryanair works.
