Looking at buying a new set of spirit level for some jobs coming up. Not looking for expensive ones as they won't be used often. Has anyone got any experience with Bahco levels or Draper Expert 1200-1800mm, quality/accuracy etc.?

I picked up some duff brand Tactix 1200mm level in Woodies the other week. Think it was €39 or so.
Sanity checked it with my Stabila 800mm and it seems fine.
I guess how close is close enough is the question when it comes to each job.

To test a spirit level put it on a surface - horizontal or off horizontal - just make sure its smooth/flat.
Note where the bubble is (i.e. how far off centre).
Switch it around - i.e. the right hand side of the level is now on your left side. The bubble should be same distance from the centre as it was the first time round.

Ive picked them up in b&q before and they've been off. I had an aldi one id used for ages and realised after a while it had gone out of whack at some stage - Now I'd been using it as a guide for a circular saw, clamping it to sheets of timber - i must have got a bit heavy with the clamping..

    ..
as above while ensuring that the level occupies exactly the same position on the flat surface.

I'd say they're selling this one off cheap. Was right next to the one I bought.

Has anyone ever used the 45' bubble? What would be its main use? Roofing?

45 foot or 45 inches? Important not to get them mixed up!

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.
