    Im 35 and hoping to do a PGCE in the north next year. I missed out on this year by applying a few days late. Just wondering if anything I can do in the meantime before next September that might improve my chances of getting a job when I finish the course.

    I suppose volunteer work with young people would be good for your job applications. First aid, coding course, anything you can add that schools might see as beneficial for extra curricular.

    Are you wanting to do primary or secondary ? You could try applying fur state exams examining. You don't need to be currently teaching to apply.

    Yeah hoping for secondary thanks for the advice would I not need to be on the teaching council to mark papers?

    You don't need that either. Or vetting. Keep an eye on the website for the application form. Usually up Nov/Dec.
