Posting this for a friend not registered here.

Scenario: Contract demands a 1 month notice period.

Person sends in resignation and does not specify a leaving date. Company acknowledges letter of resignation and says the resignation is effective immediately with no notice due.

    Is this correct?

Is he being paid for the month after he leaves? Gardening leave?

What does their contract say about payment in lieu of notice?

Is he still on his probation?

I'd need to see the exact wording for the probation notice period and post-probation notice period.

I will have to ask him about the payment in lieu of notice.

He is there a few years so not on probation.

Unless they made a deal that they were going to fire him, but instead he would resign with immediate effect, he is owed a month's salary.
