Fill your 2019 golf from the mains gas , just don't forget to tell revenue , although I think the budget encourages CNG motoring.

    From autocar
VW has already released details of the Golf’s 1.5-litre TGI Evo natural gas engine, production of which starts this year. Based on the 1.5-litre TSI engine, the TGI unit uses the same Miller cycle valve timing and a variable geometry turbocharger. It develops 129bhp and 148lb ft from 1400rpm when installed in the Golf Mk7. VW claims that this engine emits about 93g/km of CO2 on the NEDC cycle when it is hooked up to the standard- issue dual-clutch gearbox. Natural gas engines are also lower in NOx and particulate emissions than diesel and cars can be refilled from the gas mains network via small wall-mounted compressors. However, the lack of a natural gas infrastructure in the UK means this variant is unlikely to reach these shores.

It could well be true that the UK hasn't got a good natural gas infrastructure, and the article is from a uk based magazine, but that doesn't mean it's not coming to Ireland where we have a better supply.

How do we have a better supply?
They've had gas piped into houses for donkeys in the UK.

Natural Gas is the key point I think.

Audi have G-Tron , Renault are selling CNG cars in Asia, and Circle K here will be rolling out CNG pumps at (some of) it's stations during 2019/20

Be it CNG / LPG / LNG / H2 , big oil will get behind it, lots more money to be made from fossil fuels than electricity.

I think you're all missing the point , I can see the odd fella having a covert natural gas compressor at the house , thereby avoiding excise, which is the biggest cost of any transport fuel in Ireland bar electricity. A bit like green diesel without the green .
