Repairing a Samsung Tab S2

    Just my luck that the warranty went just before my tablet broke :(

    It looks to me that the problem is the battery or maybe the USB port. It wont charge turned on. If I power it off it will charge to about 70% but takes several days. That 70% then lasts about an hour.

    I took it to few phone repair places but none of them would touch it. They don't stock the batteries and were worried that the screen cracks when opening up this type of tablet.

    Can anyone please guide me on how to get this repaired? Is there a repair shop out there that will cover this? I am in Dublin 8 and hopefully won't have to travel too far (No car).

    Its still eur379 in store and is otherwise in perfect condition so Im willing to spend a bit of money.

    How long was the warranty? If it was only 12 months, the manufacturer is probably still liable to fix it under consumer law. The product should last a reasonable amount of time irrespective of warranty. For me, a tablet should last at least 2 years and probably more

    It was 2 years and ran out in August. It's annoying for sure but I dont feel too hard done by. I have looked after it but certainly put it too work :) If I'd known it would be hard to repair, I'd have gone for a cheaper Samsung tablet :/

    I think you'd still have a case to get the manufacturer to repair it for free. The key thing is what is a reasonable amount of time for a tablet to last (the warranty is irrelevant). For me that is about 5 years and it would ultimately come down to a judge . I'd send an e-mail to Samsung and threaten to go to small claims court if they refuse.

    I did a quick Google there and this seems to be a common problem. There are a few suggestions to fix it that might work.
    E.g. "Try holding all the buttons (volume up and down, and power) in at the same time for about ten seconds while the device is plugged into the charger."

    Failing the above, if you go down to Moore/Parnell street there are loads of phone shops there. I am sure one of them would have a go at repairing it. They'd also be able to find the true cause (charger/battery/USB port).
